DATA SOURCES
Our portal sources information from four databases. Here we provide you with some further information about the individual data sources. If you would like more information, please follow the links below or contact us.
1.Cochrane Breast Cancer Group's Specialised Register (CBCG SR)
The specialised register was established in 1996 and contains over 7000 references to breast cancer randomised and controlled clinical trials. Our references are derived from electronic databases including Medline, Embase, Physician Data Query (PDQ), the Cochrane Library and various online trial registers. We identify relevant trials using a systematic approach which is outlined at http://www.mrw.interscience.wiley.com/cochrane/clabout/articles/BREASTCA/frame.html
Unlike many other databases, our specialised register also includes hand-searched information from various journals and conference proceedings which are not available online. The register is used by a variety of researchers and external organisations.

2.Early Breast Cancer Trialists' Collaborative Group (EBCTCG)
The EBCTCG is based at the Clinical Trial Service Unit in Oxford, UK and the Group primarily brings together updated data on each woman randomised into all trials for treatment of operable breast cancer. These intervention trials have included more than 400 000 women. The EBCTCG updates their data in 5 year cycles.

3.Cochrane Information Management System's Central Database of Systematic Reviews (IMS CDSR)
The IMS CDSR is one of six databases in the Cochrane Library. This database includes all Cochrane protocols and reviews published by the Cochrane Collaboration. The Cochrane Collaboration is a not-for-profit international organisation which develops high-quality reviews to provide the best evidence for health care.

4.World Health Organisation's International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (WHO ICTRP) Search Portal
The WHO ICTRP Search Portal was established in 2006 and allows users to access a network of international clinical trials registers. The registry holds information about ongoing clinical trials and those trials completed.
